Five Whole Days
Yes, it's been five entire days since I wrote. It's been a long week, but no real complaints. Thankfully, Monday was a day of "work" at a golf tournament. For all of those who "know me", you can stop laughing now. Yes, I did say golf. I am proud to say that I actually made contact with the ball several times AND my team won the tournament. You heard that right: WON. We definitely got the MOST POINTS of any team, and by a landslide. Representing our anesthesiology group real well over here. But all in all, we had fun driving the golf carts all over and a beautiful day in the 80's, both of which beat a day at the hospital for sure!
Overall, it's been a pretty busy but uneventful week. Not much to report. Lots of hospital time, so much so that I haven't run since my last long run Saturday! While I'd love to be running a bit more during the week, I don't-even on days where I'm lucky enough to get out early enough to. George doesn't get to get out of the house and away from the kids on a regular basis, so I feel like the least I can do is kick him out and to the gym on days I get out before dinner. So, I'm left with a longer weekend run and the hope for 1-2 other runs at some point during the week (but if I'm telling the truth, even that hasn't happened the past couple weeks). But, tomorrow morning I'm running the Dayton Dragon 5k downtown. Not a whole lot, which is a good thing because it's supposed to be 68* and pouring down rain. I can do anything for 25ish minutes, so thus is life. Kettering employees got a discount on registration, which also includes 4 tickets to a Dragons game next month, so the race fee easily paid for itself!
It's supposed to be cruddy and rainy all weekend, so I'm not sure what all we'll be doing besides a quick run in the AM and then our nephew, Cole's, birthday get together on Sunday. The pool is probably a no-go because of the cooler temps and nasty storm, and we're waiting on any real school shopping for the kids until Dakota comes home in 2.5 weeks. We may just have to actually unpack the rest of our crap in this house! Dakota's room is still a complete mess and his bed isn't even put together yet. There's boxes still in the office and everywhere downstairs.
Probably the most exciting thing coming up is that George booked our tickets to Orlando today! He has a day trading conference the last weekend in September in Orlando and suggested we all go. He's been wanting to attend this yearly conference now for 3 years and it just hasn't worked out, mainly because I wouldn't have been able to take any days off to be home with the kids. Thankfully, I'll be on emergency med that month and I can front or back load my shifts so I can have those 5 days off! So we're heading down a day early so we can ALL play together for a day, and then I think I'm going to brave Disneyworld alone with 4 kids for a few days! Eeeekkk! Blake has never been to Disney, and it's been over 4 years for Kylee and I (and 5-6 years since the boys went!). I had assumed we'd make the painful drive down, but we found round trip tickets for $125 each! That'll end up being roughly the same price as gas for the truck roundtrip, and a heck of a lot faster (2 hours direct vs FOURTEEN hours one way!!).
I'll leave you with a pic of Blake trying a Twinkie for the first time ever and an adorable photo of 3/4 of the kiddos at dinner last night at Bagger Dave's Tavern:
